Dolly Hemphilll, Mezzo Soprano

Singing brings Dolly Hemphill joy. Previous roles include Dido in Dido and Aeneas by Purcell, Hansel in Hansel and Gretel by Humperdinck, Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro by Mozart, Azucena in Il Trovatore by Verdi, Rosette in Manon by Massenet, and Dame Hannah in Ruddigore by Gilbert and Sullivan.

Dolly received her Certificate of Music in Opera at the University of the Arts and she has studied with Bill Riley, Florence Berggren, and currently Emily Bullock, who is the Head of the Opera Department at West Chester University among others.

Dolly has sung at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall and for the Amato Opera in New York City.

Dolly is a founding member of The Main Line Opera Guild and she enjoys it because it has allowed her to display her talent without limiting what she has to sing.

Dolly has sung numerous roles and solos in France, Italy, and the United States both in operatic and choral repertoire. Also, Dolly has sung the World Premiere of The 4 songs of a Spartan mother in Philadelphia, PA. Among Dolly's favorite type of performances the operettas of Gilbert and Sullivan take third place, she has performed in a total of five Gilbert and Sullivan productions including HMS Pinafore, Dame Hannah in Ruddigore, The Grand Duke, and The Gondoliers. Also Dolly performed as a Bridesmaid twice and a Townsperson once in Trial By Jury. Overall Dolly loves to perform.
